Liminality
It is difficult to know how and when to stop and break the cycle of destructive patterns in our lives. It is also scary to unsettle from what has become our normal without knowing what the alternative looks like. Sometime a crisis (like our present) throws us by force into a liminal space between the now and the not yet. Most of us have a hard time staying on this present threshold – or liminal space – long enough to discern where we need to go in order to avoid walking in circles.

I believe music and art can help us stop the tyranny of time and open up a space within time where we can quiet and open our hearts for the not yet. The truth is that we need this time and space in order for the seeds of transformation to grow in us.

The piece ”Liminal spaces” does not articulate or propose any particular road forward. It was important to me that the music had a transitional character, no clear beginning or end, no set pulse or clear contours and no fixed score for the New Song. Not yet.
